Special Enrollment Periods for Individuals in Fort Wayne, New Haven, Auburn, Angola, Decatur and Columbia City

When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in 2013 and effective January 1, 2014, the ability to buy health insurance was reduced to one (1) annual Open Enrollment. For 2019, that Open Enrollment period will be November 1st through December 15th. If you wait until December 16th to buy a health insurance plan – you may be out of luck.

For individuals living in Fort Wayne, New Haven, Decatur, Huntington, Columbia City, Auburn, and all surrounding areas – you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period outside of the annual Open Enrollment. How does this work?

Special Enrollment Periods are generally triggered by a life-changing event. Examples are: Loss of employer-sponsored coverage; marriage; birth of a child; moving into a new state. When these life-changing events occur, Individuals have a limited period of time to apply for coverage, and that amount of time varies depending upon the type of coverage you would be enrolling in (Group or Individual Marketplace).

Health Insurance Shop is here to help residents of Fort Wayne, New Haven, Angola, Decatur, Auburn, Kendallville, Huntington, Columbia City, and all surrounding cities and towns get enrolled in the coverage you need in order to avoid a “gap”.
